Designers Note

You don’t have to be loud to be felt.
That’s not a tagline.

It’s something I learned watching men and women on set for twenty years.
I spent nearly two decades as a costume designer in Bollywood and advertising. My job was to make people feel like someone they weren’t yet - or someone they’d always been but never quite inhabited fully. I dressed heroes and villains, people in grief and people in power, individuals becoming themselves in front of a camera while a hundred people watched.

What I learned in those twenty years had nothing to do with trends.
It had everything to do with the moment a woman puts on the right garment and her shoulders drop.
Her breath slows. She stops adjusting. She stops performing. She simply becomes.

That moment is what Arsenic is built for.

Who I am
My name is Mehma Tibb. I trained at Parsons School of Design, an education shaped between New York and Paris - and then spent the better part of two decades understanding what clothes actually do for people. Not how they look on a hanger. What they do to the body, to the breath, to the way a person moves through a room.

Arsenic is not my first creative project. It’s the one I made when I finally knew enough to make it right.

What Arsenic believes
The most powerful thing a person can wear is ease.

Not effort.  Not armour.  Not volume.

Ease - the particular confidence of someone who has already decided. Who doesn’t need the room to confirm what they already know. Who walks in and holds their ground without aggression, without performance, without trying.

The person we design for is not defined by age or profession.
They may be a filmmaker, a musician, an architect, a writer, an artist - someone who has built a life with intention. Someone who dresses for themselves and, in doing so, owns every room they enter.

That is who we make clothes for.

How we make them
Every Arsenic garment begins with fabric. Not a sketch. Not a trend board. Fabric - because the way a textile feels against skin determines everything that follows. How it drapes. How it moves. How it makes you feel at nine in the morning and at midnight.

We use silk, organza, linen, and other considered materials chosen for how they live on a body over time. Clean lines. Sculptural silhouettes. Construction that moves with you rather than against you.

No excess. Nothing that doesn’t earn its place.

What we are not
We are not a brand that releases collections because the calendar says so.
We are not interested in dressing you for other people.

We are not minimalist because it’s fashionable to be minimal.
We are minimal because we believe in the weight of a single considered thing.

An invitation
If you’ve read this far you already know whether Arsenic is for you.
It’s for those who have stopped explaining their choices.
Who buy one extraordinary thing instead of five forgettable ones.
Who understand that the quietest person in the room
is often the one everyone remembers.

Welcome.
